EXPERIENCE
ILYC has worked for more than 10 years with groups from schools and other sectors all across Spain. Our work has always produced well developed and successful programs, in addition to good relationships between groups and the Spanish culture.
SAFETY
ILYC has purchased different insurance policies which insure group members. One of this insurance is the civil liability insurance which protects group members in the case of an unanticipated incident.
AGREEMENT
All of our groups sign an agreement with ILYC before they come to Spain.
FAMILIES
ILYC offers accommodation with host families in all of our destinations. We have worked with these families for many years. Houses are fully equipped and most of them are located in central areas of the city.
CURFEW
Depending on the groups and age of their members, we establish an appropriate curfew. This serves two main purposes. Firstly, it is respectful of the host family who are sharing their home. Secondly, it is a necessary safety precaution for the program participants.
TRANSPORTATION
ILYC works with a wide range of transportation companies. Our groups usually make their own flight arrangements when arriving and departing from Spain. Once the group has arrived in Spain, ILYC manages the transportation. The two main means of transport utilized are private companies (with companies directly contracted by ILYC) or public transport (train or bus).
MEALS
All of our host families offer typical Spanish meals. Specific kinds of meals and meal schedule vary depending on the host family and the specific needs of the participant. Special dietary needs including food allergies will be accommodated. Participant’s host family will be able to meet these needs.
ALLERGIES
As well as for meals, we send a list to know if there is some people with any allergy to place these people in the correct family.
TELEPHONE
Members of the groups are not allowed to make calls from the host families’ phones. Exceptions are made in the case of an emergency during which participants will be permitted to call the ILYC cell phone.
MONEY
Spain uses the EURO. For groups coming from outside Europe, money can be changed very easily. Due to this easy access, there is no need at any point for participants to carry large amounts of cash.
TRIP PREPARATION
Before traveling to any of our destinations, it is important to check several things:
- Meteorology: weather depends on the season and the destination.
- Time difference: mainly, for calling home.
- Money: if you are not in the Euro zone.
- Visa/passport: if necessary.
- Suitcase weight: for groups traveling by flight, it is important to know the luggage weight limits.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
Usually, groups have their own medical insurance. However, if it is required, they can contract a health insurance through ILYC.
